PICU DRUG INFORMATION
Alprostadil
Prostaglandin E1
Maintenance of patent ductus arteriosus
IV:
0.05 microgram/kg/min initially (0.01-0.1 microgram/kg/min has been used)
Most effective in infants less than 96 hours of age.
Raynaud’s Phenomenon
IV:
0.006-0.01 microgram/kg/min
Titrate by 0.001 microgram/kg/min every 30 minutes as required and tolerated. (maximum: 0.02 microgram/kg/min)
Administration: Continuous infusion mixture:
<10 kg: 1000 microgram in 50 mL D5W (20 microgram/mL)
May cause apnea, be prepared to intubate.
