Cosyntropin

Adrenal function testing agent


ACTH stimulation test to assess adrenal function: High dose
IV:
15 microgram/kg (maximum: 250 microgram) once
Measure cortisol prior to, and 60 min post injection

ACTH stimulation test to assess adrenal function: Low dose
IV:
1 microgram once
Measure cortisol prior to, and 30 min post injection



Pharmacology: Stimulates the adrenal cortex to secrete adrenal steroids including cortisol.
