GENERAL PEDIATRICS DRUG INFORMATION


Amphotericin B (Liposomal)

Antifungal (lipid formulation of amphotericin B)



IV:
3-5 mg/kg (maximum: Can be increased to 10 mg/kg/DAY in selected cases) Q24H

Monitor renal function and electrolytes (particularly potassium and magnesium). Infusion-related adverse effects (e.g. fever, rigors etc) may require pre-treatment with acetaminophen and diphenhydrAMINE. Requires ID endorsement.

Pharmacology: Active against many Candida species, Aspergillus and most Mucor.
