GENERAL PEDIATRICS DRUG INFORMATION


Atovaquone/Proguanil


Treatment of active malaria
PO:
5-8 kg: 2 pediatric tablets daily for 3 days
8.01-10 kg: 3 pediatric tablets daily for 3 days
10.01 to 20 kg: 1 adult tablet daily for 3 days
20.01 to 30 kg: 2 adult tablets daily for 3 days
30.01 to 40 kg: 3 adult tablets daily for 3 days
Greater than 40 kg: 4 adult tablets daily for 3 days



Administration: Should be taken with food to optimize absorption.

Availability:
Malarone pediatric tablets:
atovaquone 62.5 mg and proguanil 25 mg

Malarone adult tablets:
atovaquone 250 mg and proguanil 100 mg
